More time to spend in Cape Town
Last week we did a nice post on things to do in Cape Town, if you only have a limited amount of time to spend here. In this post we look at some fun extras to squeeze in if you are lucky enough to stay for a bit longer![caption id="attachment_536" align="alignnone" width="614"] a yummy burger from &Union[/caption]Right so now youve managed Cape Town 101, you have seen our gorgeous mountain, drank the best wines and sampled excellent food (make sure that Savoy Cabbage, Sloppy Sams, Royale,&Union, The Roundhouse are in that list). You have spent some time seeing where us South Africans come from, youve done Robben Island. Please note that I have not mentioned the beaches extensively - Clifton and Camps Bay, because I think its rather obvious that if you are visiting in summer you need to go to the beaches and if its winter you need to dress warm and go look at the ocean at least, perhaps over a glass of wine or a seafood platter.[caption id="attachment_538" align="alignnone" width="614"] Roundhouse in Camps Bay[/caption]You may want to check out our beautiful botanical gardens - Kirstenbosch Gardens, you could wander around and have a lovely picnic there (depending on the weather). It would also be great to go on a sunset cruise, you can take a commercial charter from the V&A or go snooping around the Cape grace and see if you cant find a private charter to take you out in style.[caption id="attachment_541" align="alignnone" width="614"] The gorgeous Cape Grace Yacht[/caption]If the ocean is not your vibe, you can go on a mini safari or Zoo-fari as I have heard it called. The safari company will collect you from your house and take you to the game reserve and once youre there you will get to experience the beautiful wildlife, youll spend the day and then they will bring you home safely after the great adventure.Seven to ten days and moreOkay so make sure to do all of the above, and then add a morning at the Aquarium - But the trick to the Aquarium is that you need to get a great coffee/Tea/Chai Latte take away and then go look at the fish, dont rush it - take it easy and just relax, its so calming and beautiful - for the brave - you can even swim with the predators. They dont have great whites, but trust me, its a comforting factor![caption id="attachment_543" align="alignnone" width="560"] The Aquarium[/caption]If your accommodation allows, you should have a braai on one of the nights for dinner - find a local, offer them beer and get them to show you how to braai. Lamb chops, boerewors or even some vegetarian sausages or a soya steak if you dont have the carnivorous appetite.. Youll need to have women in the kitchen making potato salad, greek salad and other braai foods while the men stand outside around the braai talking about rugby/soccer cooking the meat over a couple of beers.[caption id="attachment_545" align="alignnone" width="600"] The Penguins at Boulders[/caption]Be sure to check out Kalk Bay, have breakfast at Café Olympia and go see the penguins at boulders, drive out to Cape Point and just realise how small we are as humans and how lucky we are to be on this beautiful planet. No doubt by now you will have found one or two favourite things to do and managed to repeat at least one - Fabulous! Now Ill give you a list of establishments and you need to make it happen.
