Cape Town is a hub for activities and events throughout the year.With September here, so is Spring and the warm weather and floods of flowers. People start to come out of their winter hibernation and get out and about in the mother city and it's beautiful surrounds. In addition, the 24th is National Heritage day (more locally come to be known as Braai Day) where South Africans all get together and share food and fun. Below are some of the great September events on offer.
Cape Town Street Food Festival
This great annual event is currently underway (31 August - 3 September). The festival is taking place in Woodstock and welcomes anyone and everyone who loves food. There is food for all Foodies from all around the world to give your taste buds a buzz. Entrance into the event on Saturday the 2nd is R50 and for Sunday the 3rd it's R100.
Cape Homemakers Expo
If you're looking into changing things up or starting from the beginning this is an Expo you don't want to miss. It's taking place this weekend 31 August - 3 September. With loads of suppliers and qualified people from the industry to share their knowledge, you will surely find what you are looking for you make your house a home. It is taking place as the CTICC and tickets are R80.
Open Book Festival
With over 100 local and international authors and 140 events at this festival your love for the literary arts will be brought back to life an invigorated. The event is taking place 6-10 September in various venues throughout the city. As well as meeting new and old friends, explore some of Cape Town's greatarts and literature spots. Some events are free while others are ticketed and prices range from R150-R600.
Cape Town Sanlam Marathon
This is one of the Capes most famous races. There are different races to be run, from a 10km to the 42km marathon soit welcomes advanced runners as well as beginners. It takes place on the 17th and runs through the streets of our beautiful city. Entries are closed now but don't miss out on this one next year!
Darling Wildflower show
Darling has been hosting this event for 100 years. With this being the century anniversary, this event is sure to be special. From live music to delicious local food this event showcases some of the Capes most special features. Tickets range from R60 and are available on Quicket.co.za.
SANparks free week
Spring is one of the most breathtaking times of year to visit Cape Town when the surrounding areas of the city become flooded with indigenous flora. During this week 18-22 September some of SANparks facilities offer free entry and will be open to the public. So, pack your family and snacks into the car and take a day adventuring.
Exclusive Audience with Evita Bezuidenhout
Evita is one of South Africas favourite comedic personalities and the Mount Nelson Hotel welcomes you to spend an evening with her. Tickets cost R695 but this event is priceless. Quickly get your ticket to one of the many events from the 3rd-24th.
Zip Zap Circus
This month the Zip Zap Circus's advanced students will be putting on shows showcasing all their work they have learned at the school. In short be prepared to be amazed by these talented individuals. Tickets go for R110 and the showcase takes place on the 9th.
Jazz in the Theatre
Cape Town is full of talented musicians therefore the Artscape theatre has decided to showcase the best Jazz around. This event is filled with great talent and is sure to be music to your ears. It is taking place on the 28th-30th and tickets are R100.To sum it up, Cape Town is full of talented people as well as beauty and adventures.
